Description
In 2019, Compass Box announced a new label and recipe for The Peat Monster, their heavily peated blended malt Scotch whisky. The new label, dubbed "The Painting Label," showcases artwork specially commissioned for The Peat Monster.
Comprised of Caol Ila matured in a refill hogshead (64%), Laphroaig matured in a refill hogshead (35%), and a Highland malt blend matured in custom, heavily toasted French oak barrels (1%). Non-chillfiltered, naturally coloured, and bottled at 46% (Bottle size 750ml).
Nose: Peat, marked salinity, leans to Caol Ila in style, something medicinal. Sweet and fruity, grainy.
Palate: Peat, oak. Botanicals, floral, coppery, sweet, smoky bacon, hint of papaya.
Finish: A lingering sweetness, more peat, floral: roses and violets, sweet spice, oak.
