This exceptional single barrel from Rare Character was selected at cask strength after more than eleven years of patient maturation. Crafted from a high-rye mashbill of 60% corn, 36% rye, and 4% malted barley, it offers a beautifully composed expression that balances elegance, depth, and precision.
The nose is strikingly fruit-forward and polished, unfolding with dark orchard fruit, honeyed sweetness, and subtle floral notes, all delivered with remarkable restraint and virtually no ethanol presence despite its proof. On the palate, the whiskey opens gently before a fresh, vibrant snap of rye spice brings clarity and structure. Layers of honey, fig, and dark fruit follow, carried by a richly textured, almost velvety mouthfeel that gives the whiskey both weight and finesse.
